GAMBLING IS ADDICTIVE AND CAN POTENTIALLY RUIN YOU

Personal message from Peter Webb

Gambling has been a bit of fun and an intellectual pursuit for me for many years. I am fortunate that I have been able to turn this into a revenue earning source. I am an exception to the rule. Most probably because I can distringuish between gambling, calculated risk taking and arbitrage situations whether implied or explicit. Most people are unable to do this or are not in a position to attempt it.

A lot of people gamble for fun, entertainment and for intellectual pursuit. That is fine; as long as you are in control of your exploits it is perfectly acceptable. However, if you think that gambling is a road to riches or that it can dig you out of difficult financial situation then I strongly recommend that you stop immediately. You are not in control.

Many people turn to gambling to fulfill dreams or catapult them to a higher financial status or to escape a difficult financial situation. When you do this you are not in control and because of the way the gambling markets operate you are not likely to suceed. On these occasions where you believe you can gamble and get away with it I suggest you contact your local support group immediately.

The gambling markets are by and large efficient and continued pursuit of a hopeless dream will most probably lead to ruin. Unfortunately in my time I have witnessed many people who have gambled to escape a difficult situation only to fail and dig themselves in a much deeper hole. I can not express too strongly that It is not worth doing this. Find something you can earn money at and work hard at it. Do not leave your future in the lap of the gods especially if those gods are bookmakers.
